The Federated Kingdoms of Thaedonia, or the Thaedonian Federation, or simply Thaedonia (Thaedonean: Cónaidhm Thaedónaoi), are a parliamentary federation of kingdoms that reside both planetside and scattered throughout Thaedonian space. Thaedonia rests galactic northeast of the Empire of Gaennaan, galactic east of the Ionian League, galactic southeast of the Covenant of Edom, and is the fourth-largest nation in the Periphery of the Eastward Rim.
The Thaedonian Federation is presided over by three branches: the executive, the legislative, and the judicial. The Triúachtaráin, the executive branch, is unlike others in that it is made of three presidential officers who act as a way to check and balance each others’ decisions. The Federation’s legislative branch is filled by the Senedd Thaedonia, made of representatives from each of the clans as to pass laws that benefit all their peoples. The Mòd-ceartais, the judicial branch, is a tribunal that maintains rulings based on the laws passed by the Parliament and ratified by the Trúachtaráin.
Though having recently recovered from the Ddairachtae War, it hangs over the Thaedonian Federation as a period of embarrassment brought about by a simple coding error. The Thaedonian Clans work tirelessly to outshine their ineptitude through their advancing technological prowess and incredibly sophisticated Virtual Intelligences (VIs), however, they have much to accomplish before the Ddairachtae War is forgotten.

Etymology
Thaedonea’s name comes from the colonyship, the Thaedd Onead, that brought the original Irish, Welsh, and Scottish settlers to Swynfaedd, the Thaedonean homeworld.
Cartography
Despite its age, the Thaedonean Federation has retained its small size because of past political upheaval and, most currently, the Ddairachte War wherein much of their territory was lost to the conflict.
History
The history of the Thaedonean people is a rather tumultuous one. Originally settling on the homeworld known as Swynfaedd, the nation grew to be rooted in tribal loyalties well into the first 100 or so years after the initial colonisation. As cities grew and other colonies established on other worlds within Swynfaedd's reach, it wasn't long before a rigid feudal system found itself in all corners of the Thaedonean realm.
In the initial colonisation efforts of 3123?, the captain of the Thaedd Onead was tasked with guiding the colonists on this new endeavour. Establishing a command structure to fit the directive to colonise this world, this structure would ultimately serve to be the predecessor of the noble hierarchies that would go on to govern a vast amount of Thaedonea's territories.
Government
The Thaedonean government is comprised of three separate branches that handle the everyday activities of the Federation; the Riuachtarain, the Senedd An Thaedonea, and the Mòd-Ceartais.
THE THREE PRESIDENTS (TRIÚACHTARÁIN)
The Triúachtaráin is the executive branch in charge of enforcing the law and rules set out by the Senedd. As the name suggests, there are three elected presidents that collectively rule over Thaedonea. By having three elected officials as opposed to one, the system encourages that they all keep each other from adhering to any opportunistic policies and political manoeuvres.
SENATE OF THAEDONEA (SENEDD AN THAEDÓNAOI)
The Senedd an Thaedónaoi is the main legislative branch of the Federation. The Senedd itself is made of representatives from multiple clans from each planet within the Federation, and they regularly convene to discuss issues affecting the Federation, while also being responsible for making the laws that the Triúachtaráin are obliged to enforce.
TRIBUNAL (MÒD-CEARTAIS)
The judicial branch of the Federation is the Mòd-Ceartais. This branch is responsible for interpreting the laws of the Federation and as such is meant to apply those laws when required. This includes holding trials within the various court branches, reviewing the laws and rules that are applied throughout the nation, and delegating the various cases to the appropriate courts.
Military
The Thaedonian military is partially inspired by the knight orders of yore, in that whenever one was enlisted into a military branch, they would be known as squires until their military training was completed.
Culture
Thaedonea is notable for employing a system collectively known as tanistry throughout its society, a custom which would entail the election of a chieftain for a given clan that all family heads within that clan had to be present for. The requirements of the tanistry are more flexible than other forms of noble heritage, but it is important to note that the newly-elected chief had to be of fit body and mind and was of the same clan, whether they be the chief's son, brother, nephew or cousin. While it has led to some ambitious takeovers in the past, it otherwise has allowed a number of clans to survive through the centuries by sheer competence alone.
