The Taifa of Jihet, also known as the Black Fleet or the Dark Rahaabate, is a violent and unrecognized sect of Sharaadi outcasts, led by their prophet Mussad and his council. Labeled as pirates, terrorists and extremists, the Jiheti and their Black Fleets operate throughout the dark edges of the Known Galaxy, proliferating uncharted space. Since the end of the Blinding, the Jiheti have taken to using their branded marker as their own symbol, wearing it as a badge of honour while the Sharaadi brandish it on their star charts as a sign of warning.

The Black Fleet was formed of the surviving Nasrallah that escaped the Battle of the Eqiir Dust Banks, the penultimate battle of the War of Woe that saw the power base of the late Prophet Aliim scattered across the Glimmering Hinterlands. Following the guiding words of Aliim’s second, Mussad Jihet, the Nasrallah rallied around their new prophet, gathering together in the shadows beyond charted space. Following the ascension of Umiir I to the Gilded Throne, the Black Fleet were declared enemies eternal.

In the century following its formation, the Taifa of Jihet became increasingly more savage and bloody; their raids into the realms of the Sharaadi and Baddauiin steadily becoming more costly, in both lives and resources. Following the Blinding of 3356, the Sharaadi and their Baddauiin allies have entered into a perpetual war with the outcast Jiheti, launching a number of unsubstantial but bloody naval campaigns into uncharted space in search of their fabled ark, pushing the Jiheti further and further west, deep into the Fade Nebula.

As of the 35th century the Jiheti continue to blight the outer edges of civilized space, cultivating for themselves a fearful culture of myth and legend. Word from the spoken on the frightened tongues of those that dwell at the nebula's edge speak of a new leader rising among the Jiheti, known only as Illuyanak.

History

"In the eye of the storm there lies truth; it is better to fight and perish in the cold embrace of the void, than to be cast down behind rock hewn bars, there to flounder worm-like and craven."

The Blinding

Following a daring raid into the heart of the Great Ark of Sharaad, the Jiheti stole from there the fabled Heart of Busaan; the ancient key gifted to Nu'maan by the Gaennai said to awaken a sleeping leviathan from within the depths of the Sharaad itself. They ferried the key from the Sharaad, far into uncharted space and into the very depths of hell itself. Sadly, the key was lost following their arrival in the Fade nebula, harried by unknown forces.

Haven in Hell

Harried from the known galaxy by the Sharaadi migrant fleets loyal to the Gilded Throne, the Jiheti were forced to take refuge in the roiling nebulae of the Fade. Beset by radiation and the Fade's merciless inhabitants, the Jiheti have over the span of two centuries eked out an existence, and to a certain extent, thrived within the inhospitable nebulae. It is from the edges of the Fade that the Jiheti strike out across the galaxy, dispatching their myriad of miss-matched raiding fleets to pillage and extort any and all they can.

The Long War

Locked in a perpetual conflict with not only their erstwhile brethren from without, but also from the the lost and the damned from within; the Disciples of Venj and the Anseans respectively. Musaad has not been seen for nearly a century and a half, locked away in his meditation chamber in the heart of the Ark of Murrin. It is said by his loyal Synod that he slumbers, and sleeps, using his gifts to navigate the path to salvation for his flock. To this end, the Jiheti continue to harry the greater galaxy; attacking merchant caravans, raiding inhabited worlds and building up the resources necessary to seem them ferried beyond the gates.

From among the shadowy fleets of the Taifa of Jihet, a warrior-lord has begun a bloody rise to power among the Fleet Masters of the Dark Rahaabate. Known only as Illuyanak, this indomitable warrior has bound numerous fleets to his will, and has raided indiscriminately across the edges of civilized space, forging as deep as the Intersystem Alliance.

Masters of the Fleets

The Masters of the Fleets are the de jure rulers of the "Dark Rahaabate". It is they who command the myriad of Black Fleets that stretch out from their haven in the Fade Nebula to permeate the shadows of civilized space. Unlike their Sharaadi brethren, the Jiheti Fleet Masters are warriors unparalleled who know the horrors of their hellish homeland far too well. They are individuals who demand not only respect, but fear from those that serve them, and those that fall under their indomitable gaze.

Within their respective fleets, their word is law. To be elevated to the position of Fleet Master, one must show true devotion to the credo of Musaad who's words have seen the Jiheti eke out an existence within the hell scape of the Fade. The true number of Fleet Masters active at any one time is unknown, even to the Jiheti themselves truly, for so sparsely spread are they across the stars, yet it can be estimated that they range anywhere in the low hundreds, to upper hundreds.

The head of these venerable void masters is known as the Hand of Musaad.
