Diokles Maheras was a prominent figure in the Ionian Navy during and after the Great Ionian War and a member of the Foslara Five. He was instrumental in achieving an unparalleled and decisive transformation of the Ionian System Fleets into an interstellar navy capable of projecting massive combat power over hundreds of light-years.
Maheras served during some of the largest engagements in the Ionian Great War such as the Battle of the Acorian Passage, the Siege of Foslara, the Second Battle of Hyperion, the Battle of Acaria and the Battle of Ilos. During the course of the war he saw himself promoted from Rear Admiral to Grand Admiral of the Ionian Navy by the wars conclusion. In the post war years of the Peace of Arsithos, Maheras was instrumental at drastically reforming the Ionian Navy into one of the most combat effective and powerful navies in the Eastward Rim. He died in 3402 at the age of 93 from unknown causes. A statue of him was erected among the Velian Gardens in the Parliamentry Plaza on Foslara after his untimely death.
