Etymology

Due to its extreme geography, the largest and most habitable continent of Aechan is notoriously wracked by dust-storms from the desert continent of Odes and thunderstorms from the Aris ocean, the smell of petrichor - dust after a rain - is a common scent to the inhabitants.

Physical Characteristics

The planet of Petrichor is made up of 45% water and 55% land. It is naturally human-habitable, though, with its frequent dust and thunderstorms, many of which reach hurricane-level windspeeds, make it less than human-friendly.

Both poles are frozen over, with the north pole covering the northern portion of the Aechan continent and the southern pole over the South Odessian Ocean. The continent Odes makes up much of the southern hemisphere and a moderate portion of the northern hemisphere. Mountain ranges prevent significant rainfall in Odes, but the desert heat is enough to kick up sufficient sand and dust which is carried to the Aechan continent, giving it a continuously refreshed and fertile topsoil.

Habitability

The two primary continents of Aechan and Odes are habitable, but as Odes is largely desert or mountainous, most settlements on Aechan or are oceanic.
