The Destiny-class Cutter, developed and built by Halcyon Industries, is the main short-range and orbital patrol vessel of the Threshold's Federal Navy; several, older ships have even rotated into use by trusted mercenary groups, favored for its rugged nature and low manning requirements, and for having a favorable missile-complement for a ship of its size, if albeit small guns.

Namesake

The Destiny-class has no true namesake other than the origin of the word "destiny" itself.

Design

The Destiny-class Cutter was designed primarily to be a patrol vessel and personal-armed transport for the Keys. For this reason, the cutter was designed to be able to take on numerous ships of all sizes, with its laser point defense turrets and turrets adequate for dogfighting and its generous missile complement able to defend the cutter against even larger ships, or take on numerous assaulting enemies. It was the considerable armament and layout that inspired the later Syzygy.

The Destiny ultimately also filled gap, for a time, in the lack of an updated gunship in the arsenal.

The Mk3 Remora, developed alongside the Destiny, was designed specifically to work with the cutter, but entered service much sooner.
