Idithos, known colloquially as the Eternal City, is the single largest urban centre in the Ionian League, comprised of 118 municipalities including the City of Idithos which serves as the capital of the Ionian League. The region has a population of roughly 64 million people. Idithos stretches along the curve of the Ibean Bay and as far as inland Ibea.
Since the establishment of the Ionian League in 3031 Idithos has become the polyglot home of numerous Ionian organizations, politicians, diplomats and civil servants. Idithos houses a number of Ionian institutions including the Parliament of the Ionian League, the headquarters of the Unified Ionian Military, the Ionian Security Bureau, and the Office of the Chancellor. The region hosts over 100 foreign embassies as well as the headquarters for many international organizations, trade unions, non-profit organizations, and lobbying groups. In 3410 it was rated the number 1 most dangerous city in the Ionian League.
Idithos has stood for almost as long as Humanity have maintained a presence on Foslara. Established during the Polemic Period as the satrapical seat of the Ossyrian Empire, Idithos has become synonymous with technological, cultural and social development in Ionia. Despite its opulence, Idithos has seen its fair share of violence over the centuries through its history. Now it starts as the number one most dangerous city in the Ionian League, yet its population continues to rise as the disenfranchised of the Eastward Rim flock to its opulent towers looking for opportunity and the hope of a better life.

Peace of Arsithos
The years following the signing of the Trillian Concordance and the end of the Ionian Wars were a golden age for Idithos and the entire Ionian League. The Ionians had been battered but not broken by a decades of intense conflict, and with the wealth that now flowed through the termini corridors thanks to the establishment a true Ionian industrial base, they set about rebuilding what had been lost to the fires of warcraft. The reconstruction efforts in Idithos were some of the largest and most expensive in history, rebuilding the extensive damage sustained to the city's Lower Wards and Upper Wards. The Unified Ionian Military was established in the newly constructed Velis Tower and the White Tower had an extensive amount of internal and external reconstruction.
By 3375 not only had the reparation programs within the city been completed, it had expanded exponentially as immigration exploded. Thousands of migrants from across known space traveled to Idithos for a better life. It's population swelled, and by 3380 it had swelled so much so that the city administration could no longer keep up with the infrastructural demands. Crime skyrocketed, with certain areas of the Lower Wards becoming red zones to the city security personnel. In 3381 the Special Urban Security Force was established by the Ionian Parliament; made up of regular security personnel, yet armed and equipped with military grade equipment and deployed to these red-zones to enforce Ionian Law. Since the establishment of the SUSF crime in Idithos has dropped, yet remains a constant problem for the local administration.
By the turn of the 35th century Idithos had become a mass of urban sprawl extending across the greater extent of the Ibean bay, swallowing whole smaller settlements along the way. The shining peeks of the Upper Wards could be seen for mile around, whilst the seething mass of the Lower Wards extended outwards cross the bay like tendrils of some behemoth sea creature.

Districts
Upper Wards
The Upper Wards are one of the two over-districts of the city and the smallest of the two. Comprising the majority of the Hill of Argenus, the Upper Wards are the affluent, political and financial heart of the city. Towering sky-scrapers rise from the rocky surface of the Argenan Mesa, creating a maze of brightly lit neon streets weaving throughout its jungle of concrete and metal. At its heart sits the great circular Velian Gardens, at the centre of which stands the White Tower of Idithos, one of the largest buildings in the over-district. Elsewhere, numerous high end leisure venues and shopping outlets dot the over-district's avenues.
The Upper Wards also play host to the headquarters of the Unified Ionian Military, the Bureau of Internal Security, the Foslaran Security Force and the Idithos Armoured Security Division. The over-district holds the cities secondary space-port, built into the sides of the Hill of Argenus itself. The Elerios Space Port sees constant traffic from small craft coming and going from larger starships in orbit.
Lower Wards
The Lower Wards is the largest of the two over-sectors and the most densely populated. Spreading for miles about the Hill of Argenus, the sprawling maze of the Lower Wards holds everything the Ionian League has to offer and more, from the docklands of the Ibean Bay to the hydroponics farms of the outlying grasslands. The Lower Wards are split into at least a hundred different districts, spanning miles of along the coast of the Ibean Bay.

Notable Locations
White Tower of Idithos
The White Tower of Idithos is one of the most recognizable landmarks of the city of Idithos, standing out against a sea of opulent towers by the encircling Velian Gardens, it's white washed edifices stretching into the Foslaran sky. The White Tower of Idithos is considered to be one of the greatest examples of Neo-Ossyrian architecture outside of the Ossan System.
Velian Gardens
The Velian Gardens is the large, circular park that surrounds the White Tower of Idithos, bisected by the Avenue of the Core Founders and the Heroes Avenue. The Velian Gardens are one of the most well maintained green patches in the city's urban centre, spreading for a good mile in circumference. Within the gardens stand numerous monuments and statues to great heroes and tragic events, such as the Tower of Names erected following the Great Ionian War.
Security of the Velian Gardens falls under the jurisdiction of the Sacred Band of Idithos, and thus these ornately clad guardians of the White Tower can often be seen patrolling its lush gardens, and wide swept avenues.
The Golden Gate
The Golden Gate of Idithos is a large opulent gateway at the southern end of the Velian Gardens, and is one of the only buildings of the original city still standing. It stands two hundred meters tall, and is decorated in opulent columns and bas reliefs depicting Ionian warriors battling Gaennai soldiers during the Ionic Wars. Though highly unpractical for any use in the defense of the White Tower, the Golden Gate holds its own portcullis of Ihalan Steel, which is drawn closed during crisis'.
Constructed in 2874 CE to commemorate the Ionian victory at the Battle of Haraai. In 3031 Endre Velis held his first official conference as Chancellor of the Ionian League bellow the arches of the Golden Gate. Numerous famous paintings have been made and picts taken of the Golden Gate during quintessential moments in Ionian History, such as the Conference of the Core depicting the five original Core Founders standing bellow the gate, holding aloft the Ionian Constitution.
