Tyr Universal, Inc. is a Persican multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development, manufacturing, and interstellar marketing and sales of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services. The company is headquartered in the district of Magna Freya, barony of Lingard, on Aesingar, in the Star Kingdom of Persica. It is the star nation’s largest supplier of athletic footwear and apparel and a major manufacturer of sports equipment. It is the holding company for the Tyr Universal Group, which consists of the Timberfox sportswear company; Monarch battlechess equipment company (including Rowengard); Brizendine, an Amaranthine fitness technology company; and 12.33% of the Skaldroyal Spiders, the PBL battlechess franchise.
The company was started in Magna Freya by Tavio Eriksen in 3018 and assisted in developing the frangium armour worn by battlechess players. Eriksen convinced the local battlechess team to use his armour in league play. While the local battlechess club, the Magna Freya Vikings, finished a modest 5th in the standings that year, the quality of the armour attracted the attention of – and eventual contract with – the Premier Battlechess League.
The Tyr Universal logo is a bisected hexagon, coloured in red to show a T and in teal to show a U, for the company’s name; the T is also in the shape of the Norse rune Tyr, which is associated with the Norse and Runic god of the same name, and is generally accepted to mean “warrior”. Iconically, the shape of the rune represents the tip of a spear and also resembles a upward-pointing arrow, implying the concept of excelsior or “ever upward”.
