The Imperial Ossyrian Navy was the extra-solar naval arm of the Ossyrian Empire and one of the most powerful extra-solar navies in the Eastward Rim until its decline and fragmentation in the mid 2900's, its mantle taken by the Unified Navies of the Gaennid Empire. Headed by an appointed Navis Prefectus, the Imperial Ossyrian Navy made its headquarters in the Haven of Pelegos.
Established by Emperor --- following the end of the Ossyrian Civil War to decrease the overall power of the Ossyrian Legions in its aftermath. Following its establishment, the Ossyrian Navy was key in projecting and maintaining the power of the Ossyrian Empire across the Ionian Caldera, as well as responding and repelling myriad threats from within and without. It's defeat at the Battle of Pygos and the losses sustained at the Battle of Argos saw to its gradual degradation. The decline and fragmentation of the Imperial Ossyrian Navy is seen as one of the first nails in the coffin of the Ossyrian Empire. By the turn of the 31st Century, the Imperial Ossyrian Navy like much of the Imperial Military, had been divvied up the warring Satrapic Warlords and Freestates of the Ionian Caldera, and pitted against each other.
The traditions and teachings of the Imperial Ossyrian Navy were carried on by its successor, the Ossyrian Confederate Navy, and today by the Unified Ionian Navy, who continue to use some of the oldest Imperial naval instillations across the Ionian Caldera, such as the Haven of Pelegos which acts as the UIN's central headquarters.
