The term "Persica", when used in the geographical sense, is the Star Kingdom of Persica, comprising three sectors, each an administrative sphere of influence composed of Developed worlds, Developing worlds, and Outposts. Persica shares borders with the Star Trading Conglomerate to the galactic west, the United Star Commonwealth to the south, the Intersystem Alliance and the Kingdom of Eirangard to the east. Several small independent entities also exist in the void between the star nations but they are not yet officially recognized by the Star Kingdom.
The sectors are the central Persican Cluster, the (south)eastern Serran Expanse, and the western Maglothin Reach. Each is designated as a duchy in the governmental organization, governed by a duke/duchess - the primus/prima of the ruling ducal House, and together form the primary administrative divisions of the Star Kingdom.
Within each sector are its constituent worlds and outposts. The Developed and Developing worlds are each designated as a maerk, though the term is rarely used outside of formal government documents. Maerks are governed by a margrave/marquess, the primus/prima of the ruling margravial House. Outposts are administered by the nearest maerk and fall under that planet's governmental authority.
The population centers of each world are divided in baronies, which grew out of the first settlements of the colonial eras. Smaller settlements were established outside the initial townships which grew and merged together as the populations swelled. Baronies were established by the Crown, acting in much the same capacity as an ancient nation of Old Terra. Each is governed by a baron/baroness, the primus/prima of the ruling baronial House, and governs the districts comprising the baronial megapolis.
Districts are the smallest of the official administrative divisions of the Star Kingdom. Each is a city-sized population center ranging from around 10,000 to over a million people, and governed by a Thane who is elected by its citizens. New districts may be designated or established by the baronial government.
